I was watching Jason Whitlock's video discussion about the month of Pride in the United States of America. He discussed how Pride in America is not just about PRIDE-LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) month of June celebration, but pride itself as a character attribute that is destroying a nation that leads the world.
As I thought about it, I must agree with Jason that our country has become a people of pride. Webster's dictionary of course has many definitions of pride, one of which is defined as "exaggerated self-esteem; conceit". Most people of America today are filled with pride in that people are disrespectful, self-gratifying, and have a sense of entitlement. Especially, the millennials, xyz generations who don't want to work but demand to be rewarded on their terms while living life recklessly as well as thinking baby boomers demand too much. Then there is the LGBTQ-PRIDE which promotes having pride in being an authentic individual living life as being sexually immorally different. Those who live their life as LGBTQ do not see it as a sin, and demand the world accepts them as they are in the flesh. Not only do they demand to be accepted and treated with respect, but they push their beliefs onto children first and then the most vulnerable, of Christ believers that disagree.
But this spirit of PRIDE is not just with the LGBTQ sect, it has also spilled over to different cultures, races, religions, and nationalities. People today are walking in PRIDE believing what he/she desire and not taking flack from anyone that disagrees. This PRIDE perspective has also moved into the church, whereby many denominations and reformations are divided on LGBTQ beliefs, morals, values, and biblical principles. The church is not just divided on the subject of LGBTQ, but also has reconcilable differences in dress code, worship, and lifestyles with PRIDE. Some churches are now embracing the LGBTQ agreeing it is not sin, dressing provocatively while promoting sexual immorality and strange worship. Strange worship with lights out, dark shades, color lights blinking, blowing of whistles, and provocative dancing on the pulpits. What happened to lights on, hymns being sung in praise leading the congregants into falling on their faces of worshiping God?
PRIDE is not just about the LGBTQ community being proud of their beliefs and lifestyles, but Americans have become PRIDEFUL about many issues, that have caused much division. People are PRIDEFUL about being racist, living and having sex outside of marriage, the women and men dress provocatively with no shame. Abortion is okay because it's a woman's body and she can do what she wants. I believe the bible says, believers are not their own, but are Christ's (I Corinthians 3:23). It's not just everyday people living with PRIDE, but Christians are so caught up in their individual beliefs its hard to tell believers from non-believers as they both look alike.
PRIDE has caused our nation to become a people who no longer say good morning, hello, and thank you. I see men not giving up their seats for the elderly or expectant mothers. I see a nation that has no respect for its leaders both spiritual and political. Parents and children are now buddies getting high together and partying; one cannot tell the daughter from the mother as they both dress and act alike. I see children as disrespectful to their parents and those of authority. I see crimes committed by juveniles sixteen years or younger. I see the elderly starving and some having to work past the age of 80 because there are not enough funds to pay their bills and put food on the table. I see grandmothers raising their grandchildren and some great-grandchildren. I see women working to pay the bills while the men stay at home taking care of the kids. I see a nation with no morals or values anymore. It's not just about LGBTQ living a sinful life, it is about people who are so prideful that they will kill, steal, lie, and cheat to force their beliefs onto those who oppose them. What happened to taking care of the elderly and orphans?
America is no longer a nation of the land and the free, but a nation of prideful people who believe what they believe no matter the source or results. I see a nation where God is no longer at the forefront of leading and guiding its people through the laws of God. What is it going to take for America to truly be a leading nation promoting God's precepts, principles, laws, and commandments? When will the church fully get into her place and prepare for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ? When will the American church begin to fight for the soul of its nation?
The Bible says, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world" (I John 2:16). Proverbs 16:18 says, "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall". Is America going to fall, or will she awake and truly become a national bride? Let the body of Christ step up and in praying this month pull down strongholds. Remember to hate the sin, and love the sinner. Expose the sin, and embrace the sinner. Rebuke the sin, and restore the sinner all in love.
